Why AI Keeps Falling for Prompt Injection Attacks

Schneier on Security — 22/01/2026

Carine's take

"

Large language models often seem very human-like, but at the same time can behave in truly baffling ways. Trying to explain this seemingly erratic behaviour can very easily lead one to get lost in technical details. All the more reason why I appreciate articles like this one that provide an accessible explanation, in this case for prompt injection attacks, while being correct and insightful.

«L’Europe est le berceau des standards ouverts»: à Paris, la résistance numérique s’organise

Le Temps — 21/01/2026

Linus' take

"

AI companies will fail. We can salvage something from the wreckage

The Guardian — 18/01/2026

Katherine's take

"

Beyond the author's predictions for the AI bubble's aftermath, what struck me most was his explanation of 'accountability sinks'—people who take the blame for AI's mistakes. Understanding this concept, which emerges from examining AI companies' business model, leads to a crucial insight: it's not just white-collar workers whose jobs will be eliminated, but specifically those of senior, experienced workers, the very people most qualified to catch AI's mistakes but who cost the most. This is an important distinction I haven't seen emphasized before.

Another private equity firm acquires Threema

Privacy Guides — 16/01/2026

Imad's take

"

Encrypted messaging app Threema, which is used by the Swiss army and cantonal polices, got acquired by a German private company. Two questions come to mind. First, what kind of implications could a private acquisition such as this have on a country's sovereignty and critical operations, and how does it deal with them? Second, and more specific to Switzerland, how to avoid another Crypto AG scandal and another hard blow to the Swiss tech reputation?

CES 2026 worst in show: AI girlfriends, a fridge that won't open unless you talk to it, and more

The Register — 09/01/2026

David's take

"

Here's a rather amusing article that exposes the troubling flaws of this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) innovations. Particularly noteworthy is Merach's smart treadmill, which collects biometric data. The company boldly admits in its privacy policy that it 'cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.' Don't complain you weren't warned!

10 February 2026: AMLD Intelligence Summit 2026, C4DT track “Assessing the Disruption by AI Agents: Economic, Security and Legal Perspectives”

Where? Auditorium A, SwissTech Convention Center (STCC), EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland

Time? 14h00-15h30 (CET)

Why participate?
As we enter the agentic era, AI agents are increasingly integrated into various aspects of modern life, performing tasks that range from personal assistance and financial management to complex decision-making in industries. These AI agents, driven by powerful algorithms, are transforming how we interact with technology and each other. However, their proliferation also introduces significant challenges, such as cybersecurity vulnerabilities, economic and business disruptions, ethical dilemmas, and privacy concerns. This conference aims to delve into how AI agents could challenge existing systems and structures while exploring strategies to mitigate these threats effectively. Industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders will convene to discuss the implications of AI agents and collaborate on building a resilient future that harnesses their potential responsibly.

11 February 2026: AMLD Intelligence Summit 2026, C4DT track “AI & Media, how to secure and verify info?“

Where? Auditorium A, SwissTech Convention Center (STCC), EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland

Time? 14h00-15h30 (CET)

Why participate?
AI empowers journalists by rapidly accessing and analyzing vast document sets, but it also brings risks: it can be misused to unmask anonymous sources or to fabricate convincing misinformation. Without strong governance, AI may hallucinate, creating false or defamatory claims. In this track we highlight the needs and tools for robust safeguards to ensure AI strengthens, not undermines, integrity in journalism.
