Switzerland’s digital identity (eID) system is ready, and a public referendum on the new law is scheduled for 28th of September 2025. C4DT started working on the recently awarded Innosuisse grant to research privacy-preserving technologies for the eID. We’ll present our first findings, as well as the current Swiyu test environment during our upcoming hands-on workshop.
The eID journey of Switzerland is in its second phase, with a public votation on the new law at the end of the year. C4DT received an Innosuisse grant to work on the privacy preserving part of the eID, and we will present some of our preliminary findings on the 26th of June from 10am to 4:30pm at BC410, EPFL during a hands-on workshop.

Morning session
2h overview from 10am to noon, including discussions: Dr. Imad Aad will present the current Swiyu project: the requirements set by the law, comparison with the EU ARF, and a high-level overview of the technical choices made. In a second part he will present the most promising technologies to further minimize the fingerprint left by the users of the eID system, and eventual implications on the law and the ordinances.
The target audience are project leaders and decision makers participating in projects related to eID.
Afternoon Hands-on Workshop
3h30 hands-on workshop from 1pm to 4:30pm: the team of the C4DT Factory, supported by FOITT, presents Swiyu. You will set up an issuer and a verifier to interact with the Swiyu test app, and dissect the data sent between the different actors.
In a second part you will discover some of the latest techniques used to enhance the privacy of eIDs. We’ll discuss requirements by the law and the ordinances, how this impacts the choice of the future version of the Swiss eID.
