“AI’s value lies less in automating tasks and more in enabling new coordination and decision-making architectures.” In his book Reshuffle, Choudary offers a compelling framework for leaders to navigate the organisational impact of AI. He argues that systems are fundamentally organised to manage constraints of scarcity (expertise), risk (liability) and coordination (aligning different stakeholders). The structure is excellent, with each chapter concluding with ten actionable takeaways. However, in my opinion, the illustrations add little analytical value and the core arguments become repetitive midway through. I also feel that, while the historical parallels drawn throughout add interesting context, they don’t always translate convincingly to contemporary digital environments, where geopolitical and regulatory dynamics differ fundamentally. For time-pressed technology specialists, I recommend reading a comprehensive summary rather than the full text, as this will provide an understanding of how AI solves constraints of scarcity and, more importantly, how it overcomes coordination challenges, without wading through redundant examples and verbose text.
